Curly Hair Doll — Amigurumi Crochet Pattern PDF

A seated doll with caramel curls in two pigtail buns, rosy cheeks, a dusty pink puff-sleeve dress with hand-embroidered flowers, and matching bloomers. Approximately 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 in) tall. Written in English, in standard US crochet terminology.

Why it looks harder than it is

The hair is the part that looks impossible and is the most forgiving. Each curl is a separate crocheted strip that twists on itself as you make it, and they are attached one at a time. If one sits wrong, you move it. Nothing about the hair is irreversible, and the pattern includes a styling section for exactly this stage.

The flowers on the dress are the same idea: they are embroidered over the finished bodice at the very end, with a yarn needle, so you place them by eye and you can take them out if you want them somewhere else.

What you make

The doll's body, head, arms and legs · the curly hair with its pigtail buns · the puff-sleeve dress · matching bloomers · the embroidered floral details · the face.

Materials

DK or worsted weight yarn in cream for the skin, soft brown for the hair, and dusty pink or mauve for the dress · crochet hook approximately 2.25 to 2.75 mm · polyester fiberfill · safety eyes approximately 8 to 10 mm, or embroidery thread instead · embroidery floss in green, pink and white · tapestry needle · stitch markers · scissors.

You can work the doll in the soft neutral and dusty pink palette shown, or choose your own colours.

Finished size

Approximately 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 in) tall, depending on your yarn, hook and tension.

If this doll is for a baby or a young child

For a child under three, embroider the eyes rather than using safety eyes — the pattern gives both options and the doll works exactly the same either way. If you use safety eyes, fit them exactly as instructed, with the washers pushed fully home, before stuffing the head, and check them from time to time. Work the fabric tightly enough that the stuffing cannot come through, and surface clean the finished doll with mild soap and a damp cloth rather than washing it.

Questions makers ask

Do I need to print anything?
Not unless you want to. The pattern is a clean PDF you can follow straight from your phone, tablet, or laptop. If you'd rather work from paper, it prints on regular A4 or US Letter with no special setup — and the layout is designed so you're not wasting ink on backgrounds.
I'm a complete beginner — can I do this?
Absolutely. Our patterns are designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear, illustrated step-by-step instructions that guide you through the whole process. Thousands of first-time makers have crocheted our patterns with no prior experience.
How do I get my pattern after I buy?
Instantly. The moment your payment is confirmed, your files are ready to download — and we'll also email you a download link so you always have access. No waiting, no shipping.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes! You're welcome to sell finished items you make from our patterns. We just ask that you don't share, resell, or redistribute the pattern files themselves.
What yarn and hook do I need?
Every pattern lists the exact yarn weight, hook size, and yardage up front, along with the gauge swatch so your finished piece comes out the right size. You can substitute any yarn of the same weight — just check your gauge first.
What if I get stuck?
We're here to help. If anything's unclear or you run into trouble, just reach out by email and we'll get you back on track — usually within 24 hours.
