Why it looks harder than it is It is one piece, worked in one go. You start with the brim, work the headband, and keep going into the lace panel — there is no separate hat to assemble, no crown to shape in the round, no seaming. The lace panel narrows to its point simply by leaving out motifs as you go, so the shaping is a matter of stopping, not of calculating. The ties and tassels are added at the end and take a few minutes each.
There is also nothing to fit. The head circumference range is 53 to 58 cm and the side ties take up the difference, so you do not have to measure anyone or match a gauge to a head size.
