šŸ‚ Scarecrow, Pumpkin & Sunflower — Crochet Pattern Set

Three projects in one PDF Ā· Written in US crochet terms Ā· Step-by-step instructions

Most amigurumi patterns give you one character. This one gives you a scene.

A scarecrow sitting with his hat over one eye, a round pumpkin grinning beside him, and a sunflower in its own little pot leaning in. Put them together on a mantel, a shelf or the middle of a table and they hold a whole corner of the room — which a single doll on its own never quite does. That is the difference between an amigurumi and autumn decor. ✨

And there is a second thing about a set of three that nobody points out. They are not the same difficulty.

The pumpkin is a ball with grooves pulled through it and a face — you could make it in an evening, and it is the one I would start with. The sunflower adds petals and a pot. The scarecrow is the full project: limbs, clothes, a hat, a face, all sewn together.

So you can begin with the easy one, get your tension right, learn how the faces are worked, and go up. By the time you reach the scarecrow you have already made two of him in miniature. That is a much kinder way into a doll than starting with the doll.

🧶 What's Included

āœ”ļø Instructions for all three pieces: the scarecrow, the pumpkin and the sunflower in its pot āœ”ļø Written step-by-step crochet instructions āœ”ļø Standard US crochet terminology throughout āœ”ļø Instant digital download

🪔 The Three Pieces

šŸ§‘šŸŒ¾ The scarecrow — a seated doll with a floppy pointed hat, straw hair, a patched bib overall and big boots šŸŽƒ The pumpkin — a round segmented pumpkin with a curled stem, two leaves and a smiling face 🌻 The sunflower — a smiling flower with a stem and leaves, standing in its own little pot

šŸ“Š Skill Level: Intermediate

Not because any single stitch is hard — this is all standard amigurumi in the round. It is intermediate because of what a doll asks of you overall: colour changes, several separate pieces, limbs to attach so they sit straight, and a face to embroider so that it looks back at you kindly. If you have made an amigurumi before and you are comfortable working in continuous rounds, you have what you need. If you have not, start with the pumpkin.

šŸ›ļø What You'll Need

  • A crochet hook to suit your yarn
  • Toy stuffing
  • A darning needle for assembly and for the faces
  • Black and pink yarn or embroidery thread for the features
  • Stitch markers and scissors

This is a digital crochet pattern. No finished item will be shipped. Your files are available to download immediately after purchase.

šŸ“Œ Please Note

If these will be handled by a small child, embroider the eyes rather than using safety eyes, and sew every small piece — the buttons, the little sunflower on the hat, the leaves — on very securely. They are made as decorations, not as toys.

Colours may look slightly different from one screen to another. This listing is for the pattern only, not finished pieces.

Questions makers ask

Do I need to print anything?
Not unless you want to. The pattern is a clean PDF you can follow straight from your phone, tablet, or laptop. If you'd rather work from paper, it prints on regular A4 or US Letter with no special setup — and the layout is designed so you're not wasting ink on backgrounds.
I'm a complete beginner — can I do this?
Absolutely. Our patterns are designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear, illustrated step-by-step instructions that guide you through the whole process. Thousands of first-time makers have crocheted our patterns with no prior experience.
How do I get my pattern after I buy?
Instantly. The moment your payment is confirmed, your files are ready to download — and we'll also email you a download link so you always have access. No waiting, no shipping.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes! You're welcome to sell finished items you make from our patterns. We just ask that you don't share, resell, or redistribute the pattern files themselves.
What yarn and hook do I need?
Every pattern lists the exact yarn weight, hook size, and yardage up front, along with the gauge swatch so your finished piece comes out the right size. You can substitute any yarn of the same weight — just check your gauge first.
What if I get stuck?
We're here to help. If anything's unclear or you run into trouble, just reach out by email and we'll get you back on track — usually within 24 hours.
