Why it looks harder than it is
The bag is worked in one stitch. From the first row to the last, the body, the gusset and the flap are the same dense single crochet — there is no stitch pattern to follow, no counting a repeat, and nothing to lose your place in. It is the kind of project you can do while half watching something.
There is no zip and no metal hardware. The closure is a crocheted loop passing over a wooden button, and the strap is three cords plaited together — so nothing has to be bought from a bag-making supplier and nothing has to be riveted or glued.
