👼 Crochet Angel — Ornament and Gift Box Topper
Two versions from one pattern · Openwork lace dress · Gold beaded wings and halo · US crochet terms · Intermediate
One pattern, two angels. A small one to hang on the tree, and a larger one to stand on a gift box, a mantel or the middle of a table.
And she has no face.
That is not an omission, it is the reason she looks the way she does. A face turns an angel into a doll, and a doll into a character — this one stays quiet, and quiet is what makes an ornament look like something inherited rather than something made last November. The head is smooth yarn wound over a round core, the halo is a fine ring of gold beads, and the whole expression of the piece comes from the lace and the trim instead. ✨
It is also, frankly, a relief. The face is the part of any doll that goes wrong — the part you unpick three times and still are not happy with. There is none here. What you have instead is an openwork lace skirt, two beaded wings and a halo, and every one of those you can see going right as you work it.

The stitches are standard, but three things ask for care: the openwork lace has to stay even for the skirt to hang properly, the beads have to be placed at a regular spacing all the way round both wings and the hem, and the pieces have to be assembled so she sits straight. None of it is difficult. All of it rewards taking your time.

📌 Please Note
This is a decoration, not a toy. She carries small beads. Hang her out of reach of babies and young children, sew every bead on securely, and keep the hanging cord short and out of a cot.
Colours may look slightly different from one screen to another. This listing is for the pattern only, not a finished angel.
